Hyderabad Property Owners Raise their Voice against the Misuse of Land Acquisition Act

land-acquistionThe property owners of Hyderabad city who have handed over their land to the officials for various reasons are crying foul over the wrong use of the powers of these officials as they are dragging the owners to the courts, deliberately. The authorities are also harassing the property owners who are raising their voice against them in the courts.The owners are demanding to take their case under consideration with respect to the new Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act which will be active from 1st January, 2014.One of the property owners said that if the land owner feels that the compensation provided is not enough and they are been mistreated then they can approach to the court under Section 18 of the Land Acquisition Act. It is really very difficult for the owners to gather all the essential information like current market value, sales registered of that area and also bringing witness of the owner who has got maximum value for the property in the same area, is a problem.Hyderabad Metro Rail and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) have clearly denied providing compensation on poor issues like non-submission of some documents or amount deposition in court under Section 30. This situation is common in most of the cases when the property owners decline to give approval to the town planning department regarding acquisition of land for road widening, metro rail or any infrastructure project.As per the new act, the GHMC should mandatorily use the acquisition provisions for the public or public private partnership projects but not for private sector companies or personal projects.
