Mall Space to Reach the Mark of 95 Million sq ft by 2015 Across India

mall-space-indiaMumbai: Total retail space across the country is predicted boost up in coming two to three years, especially the overall mall space is expected to see spurt across top metro cities in India. The expected rise in the mall space is predicted to increase by about 26 per cent reaching mark of 95 million square feet by 2015.The current stock of mall space in top metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune and Hyderabad is accounted at about 76 million square feet which according to survey expected to rise above the mark of 95 million square feet. Predictions of such increase in mall space are done by a survey of leading property consultant Jones Lang LaSalle.The survey stated that Delhi-NCR and Mumbai retail markets lead the list with highest concentration of shopping malls accounting about 62 per cent of the overall mall stock across India. Whereas Bangalore and Chennai together accounted for 20 per cent of the total stock and other cities followed the list.About 24 million square feet of shopping mall space is expected to be added in coming two years and by 2015 and total shopping mall space will reach up to 95 million square feet.JLL managing director Pankaj Renjhen said that the country is observing an increasing trend of structures approach while planning, execution and launch.
