Pune: The Economically Weaker Section (EWS) of the Society in Pimpri Chinchwad area of Pune will be getting tenements under a housing scheme. The Municipal Corporation in a recent press conference announced to hand over 1,008 residential units constructed under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) in Sector 17 and 19 of Chikhli.In 2008, 6720 homes were constructed by the Municipal Corporation in Chikli. According to the Assistant Commissioner, 353 beneficiaries have paid the total amount of Rs. 3.76 lakh in cash while 1937 beneficiaries have paid half of the amount in cash and the remaining half by taking bank loan.The Pimpri Chinchwad New Township Development Authority (PCNTDA) have till now given completion certificates to 24 buildings.The assistant commissioner further said that the beneficiaries who have received the tenements have to submit an affidavit to the civic body, anytime during the month of March, every year stating that the he is using the residential unit for himself or for his family. This would restrict the beneficiaries from renting the home. The civic body also declared in advance that it will not pay the electricity bills and water charges; the expenses will be borne by the beneficiaries themselves.The civic body had earlier received complaints that the citizens who own a residence in municipal limit are also applying for the tenement under EWS scheme which is in breach of the EWS project conditions. If the civic body receives similar complaints, this time then it will be seizing the entire amount of Rs. 3.76 lakh and also cancel the allotment and take away the tenement.
