Gurgaon: Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) had earlier scheduled a deadline of 10 December to pay property tax. The MCG has now shifted the deadline to December 31 as earlier deadline invited a huge rush on the last day to pay the property tax and avail refund of the property tax.MCG authorities stated that the last day process saw about 5000 property tax payers paying tax by various modes at MCG which collected over 6.19 crore revenue till the end of the deadline on the last day. Total residents which visited the corporation office on December 9 were accounted at about 1800. Figures witnessed on the last days of property tax payment process observed all time high numbers.The MCG had idea about the last day rush for property tax payments; hence it had set up additional twelve counters for the assessment of property tax on the last day. These counters were deputed by the staff from other departments to handle the extra rush on the last day. The extra staff was appointed to assist residents having problem filling self assessment forms.Many residents were unable to file their property tax assessment hence the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon has decided to extend the property tax payment deadline to December 31 to make the property tax assessment process easy for residents.The state government took the decision of extending the deadline for paying property tax in Gurgaon. This decision will help MCG to assess revenue over Rs 200 crore in the current financial year.
