New Land Acquisition Model Accepted by Villagers for Navi Mumbai Airport

navi-mumbi-airportNavi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai airport is finally getting positive vibes of for the completion as villagers protesting against the Airport have accepted an alternative model for land acquisitions. Alternative model was proposed by Peasents Workers Party during the meeting held at Pargaon village. The model will be further forwarded to the Chief Minister for a final settlement.Villagers going through land acquisition demanded the 35 per cent compensation for developed land and Rs 6.25 crore compensation for every hectare land acquired for the Airport project. The meeting held on to discuss the alternate model, finally got the approval of villagers for the alternative model suggested in the meeting.The new model would be finalized once the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) accepts the compensation of 22.5 per cent for developed land at Pushpak Nagar along with increased the FSI of 1.5 to 3. The non developed land will be given the compensation of Rs 6.25 crore for every hectare acquired for the project.About 300-400 villagers will be benefited through the land acquisition process for the new airport at Navi Mumbai. Hence it was necessary to consider the demands of the villagers to make sure that they get worthwhile compensation for the acquired land by the government.CIDCO has also passed on two models for the relief and rehabilitation package for the villagers which will be discussed in the near future.
