Gurgaon: Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has decided to create a special category for the property tax calculations of commercial and industrial properties under the property tax assessment scheme. The new category will cover the properties like hospitals, banks, restaurants, marriage halls, godowns, and cinema halls which are established in the Gurgaon Corporation’s jurisdiction.Gurgaon is getting a property tax system as authorities have been working on the process of property tax assessment system from the past few months. A special committee appointed by the state government has prepared a tax revision scheme for the Gurgaon. Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) officials said that concerned authorities are working on the new property tax assessment system for the Gurgaon.The establishment of a new category for the tax calculation for commercial and industrial properties will help these businesses to reduce their property taxes through this new assessment system.The new tax notification divides properties in four main categories to make the tax assessment process easy for the owners – domestic properties, commercial properties, industrial properties, and institutional properties.The new category will calculate the property tax through various parameters, in hospitals property tax will be calculated on the basis of beds included in the hospitals which will most probably reduce the property tax value for hospitals.The same assessment will be regularized for the cinema halls, marriage halls and similar auditoriums.
