New Delhi: Developers working on many Special Economic Zone projects are seeking more time for the completion of these projects from the government. Implementation of about 29 SEZs has been delayed due to various reasons and developers have sought more time from the Board of Approval (BoA). The requests of developers implementing the SEZ projects will be considered by the Board of Approval in meeting which will be held on November 8.Developers like Tata Consultancy Services, Parsynath Infra and Navi Mumbai SEZ Pvt Ltd are amongst the many developers which are seeking a time extension from the Board of Approval (BoA). Developers like Unitech Infracon, Lodha Dwellers and Posco-India Pvt Ltd have also demanded for the additional time to implement the respective projects. The developers mentioned that market fluctuations and global economic slowdown and falling Rupee have affected the project schedules, hence the delay in completion of these SEZ project.Many Developers have cited for the extension of about one year to implement the SEZs as the validity time limit of most of these projects is on the verge of expiry according to predefined schedules.TCS has requested for extension in the construction period at its Kolkata based IT/ITeS zone. Greater Noida IT/ITeS zone by the Unitech Infracon also needs further extension of the period to complete the work which was slowed down due to the global melt down.In the upcoming meeting, Board of Approvals will take up two new applications of the SEZs.
