The First Phase of Digitization of Land Records Successfully Completed

land-record-digitizationThe Defence Estates Office (DEO) of Pune Circle has successfully accomplished the first phase of the digitization of land records. The digitized records will be uploaded on their official site, in the second phase. Land records will be made available to the people by just one click.DEO officials from Pune circle told that they have completed the scanning and digitization of more than 3,000 files. They have divided the files in three categories, red, green and blue. The prime files are categorized as red. As they were important, they were incorporated in the first phase from 5 locations, Pune, Dehu Road, Khadki, Aurangabad and Ahmednagar. The officials further said that they have started with the project, a year back and have successfully digitized all the land records under the red category.The prime purpose of the projects is to preserve the old land records. In the first phase of the digitization, they have added records that are associated with land ownership, land acquisition and common land records. The Ministry of Defence has allocated separate finances for this ambitious project. The second phase which will be launched shortly will involve the uploading of all the digitized land records on the software. According to the officials, they are planning to save these records in form of micro-films which would be a part of third phase.All the other 19 DEOs in the Southern Command are also working on the digitization.
