Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has declared to take actions against malls in Pune that infringe the building permission parameters.In August, the civic body announced that as per the municipal commissioner orders, the building permission as well as fire brigade department would scrutinize malls and multiplexes. The civic body later on started taking actions against the malls present in different parts of Pune. PMC is planning to strengthen the drive and by 2nd November, submit a report in commissioners’ office. Recently PMC vacated 2,050 sq ft space by taking action against the malls in Vishrantwadi. The civic body also intensified the drive by taking action against malls in Kondhwa and Satara Road.Generally the vacant spaces in the malls are for the visitors so that they utilize it for any adverse event but these spaces are now used by malls as reception area, games zone or for putting up stalls or exhibition. Terrace area is also utilized in some malls. With respect to this, PMC said that it is against the purpose of allocating open spaces for mall.The municipal commissioner has appointed some officials who will check if the malls are operating as per the authorized terms. The officials will also be examining if the malls are operating on the basis of the no objection certificates of fire brigade along with this parking facilities will also be checked.Currently in a press release, National Society for Clean Cities (NSCC) said that some shopping malls are consistently going against the development control regulations and fire department rules.
