Delhi: Haryana government has sanctioned the Haryana Management of Civic Amenities and Infrastructure Deficient Municipal Area (special Provisions) Act, 2013. The act was welcomed as a relief to lakhs of residents living in various illegal colonies in the city. The act will enable the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) to provide basic amenities and infrastructure to the residents living in these areas.The urban local bodies department has also issued a notice regarding developments in these societies. MCG was not having any authority to provide essential services hence these areas were lacking the basic amenities and developments. About 543 illegal colonies were spotted across Haryana which have not been authorized by the government. Out of these 543 colonies government has decided to provide essential amenities to 44 colonies situated in Gurgaon.P Raghavendra Rao, Principal Secretary of urban local bodies said that these colonies need to fulfill the certain criteria to get the amenities according to the sanctioned act. The conditions which need to fulfill are the minimum built up area of the colony must be 50 per cent and the colony should not be a part of any restricted area.This decision will highly affect the people living in 22 colonies at restricted zone around IAF depot. People living in such colonies are protesting against the government’s decision. Notification for authorization of the colonies will be shortly issued, according to which certain plots can be authorized by depositing a certain amount after fulfilling the relevant provisions.44 colonies which have been short listed for the development are situated in Gurgaon on 1.217 acres of land.
