EWS to be Allotted Flats in the Proposed Satellite Township

jharkhandMadurai:  The Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board has decided to allot flats for the slums in the upcoming Satellite Township in Thoppur. This decision was taken in the interest of the slum dwellers considering their interests. The beneficiaries under the JNNURM housing scheme have refrained from moving into the flats allotted by the Government owing to the fact that they would be distanced from their source of livelihood. In response, the TNSCB has allotted 10% of the land reserved for Satellite Project Construction for the economically weaker sections.The Satellite Township is proposed to come up in Thoppur spread across 586 acre of land. This will be landmark in the real estate of Madurai. The officials instructed the allocation of 10% of satellite township land to accommodate the economically weaker sections. This will provide shelter to almost 7,200 families under the Rajiv Awaas Yojana (RAY). This initiative has been taken to address the housing needs of lower income groups.The proposed satellite township will have better connectivity with NH7 in its proximity The Kappalur industrial is at a distance of few kilometers from the township. All this will offer greater advantages to the beneficiaries of the scheme.
