Pune: The civic body of Pune has recorded a drop in real estate development in city peripherals but developers say that the demand for houses and development is steady here. The demand for houses has shifted from the expensive prime areas to the affordable outskirts of Pune.According to the city developers, in past two months, 4 major projects have been declared to be launched in the outskirts of Pune which will be offering 1,500 housing units. From December 2012 to June 2013, 494 projects have been developed that comprises of 27,008 residential units. The real estate market of Pune has expanded by 20.30% during this phase. According to the managing director of one of the renowned real estate firms, out of the total stock, 79.5% is already sold out. Many well known real estate developers of Pune are coming up with posh residential projects in city outskirts.Though developers have a positive take about the real estate market, the civic body has a different story to say. The civic body records a decline is residential sector. According to the civic records, last year the Pune Municipal Corporation received 4,623 building permission proposals whereas this year the civic body has received 4,073 proposals which indicates a drop.
