The falling value of Rupee against dollars has raised concerns in real estate sector. Currently for the development of posh projects, most of the real companies are importing construction materials which indirectly are affecting the rupee value. Hence to make the rupee stronger, the real estate body, National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) requested the developers to decrease the imports of the construction material and use Indian grade products.According to the Vice President of NAREDCO, real estate developers trade in about USD 10 billion worth construction materials and services every year. The constant depreciating value of Rupee calls for use of domestic construction materials. Apart from flooring, cement, home automation products, the developers also employ international services like technology, architects and consultancy for which they pay the cost in dollars.Normally the imported products and services are used for the development of high-end luxury projects hence this accounts to approximately 30 t0 50 percent of the total cost of the project. If the developers start using domestic products for construction then the money value may become stronger.NAREDCO President commented on the Real Estate Regulation and Development Bill and said that it should be more practical and focus on the growth of industry.One of the renowned real estate company commented on the FDI sector by saying that the government allows foreign investment into projects that have area of over 50,000 sq metre instead is should cut down to 20,000 sq metre so that even the small developers would be benefited. The financial condition of the developers is not in good condition and even the banks are not granting funds due to various issues therefore in such situation, funds can be raised only through private equity funds.
