ADB Asks for KSUDP Action Plan with Deadline of June 2014

KSUDPThiruvananthapuram: Asian Development Bank (ADB) asked for the detailed master plan for the key projects taken by the Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project (KSUDP). The ADP asked to provide the detailed action plan for the completion of the major key projects under KSUDP before June 2014.The further work of the projects will be formed with consultation from ADB. The municipalities’ project implementation units will have to go through major rejig before finalized plan from ADB team come out. ADB officials visited the KSUDP projects in five major municipalities to assess the progress of development. The ADB has insisted that projects should complete before June 2014.In the visit, ADB suggested that KSUDP should strengthen the technical team. They have already working on the recruitments of additional technical experts for the implementation of various projects.The projects are developed in Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Kochi, Kozhikode and Kollam municipal corporations and are estimated at Rs 1422.47 crores. The KSUDP development includes aspects like drinking water distribution, sewerage, sanitation, waste management, and land acquisition, etc. The investment fund of Rs 995.4 crore is allotted by the ADB for the development. The overall scheme involves about 100 packages out of which about 31 packages have been already developed with a cost of Rs 149.65 crores.The discussion was held between chief secretary and Urban Affairs Minister Manjalamkuzhy Ali and ADB team, the formal report of the visit will be finalized later by ADB team.
