PMC Building Approvals Down by 550 in 2012-13

PMC-building-approvalsPune: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has reduced number of approved projects by giving fewer approvals in the current year as compared to the previous year’s approvals. The building permission department of the PMC has given about 550 less permissions in the year 2012-2013.The PMC’s report of Environment Status Report cleared the count which stated that number of approvals given this year has been reduced by about 550 permissions. The civic administration supported the report analysis saying that the fall in the approvals is the result of steady real estate market in the city.According to the report, about 4623 buildings were approved in the preceding year by the PMC. Number of buildings approved this year has substantially lowered to about 4073. The number of buildings approved this year has been the lowest of previous five years.The department had also reduced approval FSI compared to the preceding year and buildings with less FSI were approved during 2012-2013. Last year, maximum building approval applications were submitted to the PMC in the second half of the year and the number was the highest in past few years.The civic body of PMC has established an automated system to analyze building approval applications. The system scrutinizes building drawings submitted by developers in soft copies and according to the provisions of building permissions it generates a report for buildings.
