No Water Source, No NOC

bangalore-underconstructionBangalore: The Government has decided not to give permissions for constructions of apartments and housing projects if they do not have a proper water resource. The Government may soon create provisions for developers and builders to specify the source of water while obtaining permissions for the construction of buildings.Survey by the stamps and registration department stated that large numbers of housing units are lying empty due to the absence of proper water resource. More than 90 per cent of apartments in Bangalore are dependent on bore wells and water tankers.No-Objection Certificate (NOC) will not be issued to apartments and other housing projects if the projects do not possess a proper water resource. Availability of water must be checked before giving NOCs to projects.Chief Minister Siddharamaiah said, “We have received many complaints from people who purchase flats but find there’s no water supply available.”M Sriniwas (JDS) said that most housing projects do not follow the rain water harvesting system. On the other hand the number of dwelling units in the city is increasing exponentially and the water table is getting affected since every person depends on bore wells for water supply in the city.Siddaramaiah said, “Apartments should use recycled water for non drinking purposes. Cauvery water will not be available for Bangalore in future as state has used all its allotment.
