Revenue Loss of Rs 150 Cr Annually: NMC

NMCNagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is suffering a loss in property tax of around Rs 150 crore per year. Property tax collected is incorrect and way below the expected due to the failure in assessing the properties since 1998. Suffered by loss, the Chairman of the committee had asked the in-charge of multiple zones to make certain the reassessment of properties such that the new properties will also come under the radar of corporation and taxes can be collected from them otherwise action can be taken legally. As the LBT revenue is also weakening, corporation is focusing on the collection of property tax which is one of the highest revenue sources for the body. The primary reasons pointed out by Chairman are the Government properties from which only 2-3 crore/year of property tax is collected while it should actually be around Rs 55 crore if reassessment is carried out and the 60,000 non-assessed properties out of total 4.63 lakh properties taking the loss toll to Rs 50 crore. Last year only 16,000 properties were brought into the tax purview and more than 36,000 are awaiting assessment.Every five years NMC has to conduct re-assessment of properties. Also it is the duty of citizens to make sure re-assessment is done or not. Only after the team effort, proper collection and functioning of corporation is assured.займ на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
