BMC: Property Tax Due Date Postponed and Decided to Refund to Extra Tax Payers

property-taxMumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has postponed the due date of paying the property tax bill to September 30, 2013. Only the properties that have final tax bills higher than the provisional tax bills due to the increase in the taxes issued for the year 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 are eligible to pay the tax bill on September 30. Others whose property bill is equal or less than the provisional bill are entitled to pay the bill on the decided date that is June 30 issued in the period 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13.The Municipal Corporation had already extended the due date to June 30 with respect to the difficulty of the tax payers to pay the tax at once. The tax payers had requested the BMC to extend the due date.Apart from this BMC has also decided to refund Rs 895 to the citizens who have paid extra tax. The refund will be based on the provisional bills which were sent to them till 2010 before the final bill based on the capital value system sent last year. There are almost 86,000 cases that are eligible for the refund. This is mainly because the final bill generated under the new system is less than the provisional bill.  Most of the refund cases are from the suburbs. BMC has repaid Rs. 70 crore in 210 cases in eastern suburbs and in western suburbs, it refunded Rs.200 crore.Earlier the property tax was calculated on the basis of the rent of a particular property. Currently the new method of the property tax collection will be based on capital value of the plot.займ на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
