Nagpur: The State Government has decided to digitize all the land records from the storage of the land records in all talukas. The government has initiated a project to digitize land records and the project will accomplish its tasks in different phases. In the first phase government has decided to digitize all the important records from all the talukas.It is scheduled that the tenders regarding this project will be made public in July and August. Once the tender is given, the Project Execution Committee of revenue department for the evaluations of the technical details and Chief Secretary Committee will do the final evaluation of the tender.The digitized land record will be updated in revenue records and the updated 7/12 extracts will be later scanned. To improve the registration process and reduce tax evasion government will provide title guarantee to land owners. The government will use the integrated databases of the city from land record department and municipal bodies.Urban property transactions are currently recorded in the digital format. But in rural areas it is not possible to record the transactions in digitized format as these areas suffer from the issues of load shedding, lack of computer and trained staff.National Land Records Modernization Programme (NLRMP) was launched in the year 2008 for digitization of the all land records across the country. The Maharashtra state government hasn’t been working according to the plan.
