Pune: Pune Municipal Corporation has decided to discuss the proposal of the civic body regarding the penalizing builders and citizens who fail to check mosquito breeding at their construction sites, residences respectively.The rainy season is on the door step and it increases the chances of many diseases like dengue etc. Civic body has filed the proposal as a precautionary measure to avoid such mishaps in the future. They have also made a draft rules with a criminal proceeding against the citizens which do not follow the guidelines as the preventive measures.Fine of Rs 1,000 will be charged for every owner who fails to follow the preventive measure to avoid mosquito menace and further the additional Rs 100 will be charged for everyday if steps are not taken to stop it. Civic Body can also commence criminal proceeding for any rule breaking.Civic Body proposed that the organization or the owner should ensure that the water bodies or storages must not give a way to the mosquito breeding. If the Civic administration finds out a site with breeding ground for mosquitoes, then it can stop the construction of the site until the proper preventive measures are taken.The things which provide breeding ground for mosquitoes are water tanks at construction sites, open septic tanks and water tanks, unused wells, swimming pools, drainage and potholes etc. Civic body will initiate action like physical and biological measure and the expenditure would be applied to the owners who failed the guideline.
