Hyderabad: The cleaning up of illegally made structures is on high speed now in Hyderabad. Recently the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had wiped 70 illegal structures that have extended their boundaries and gulped the pavement areas. Protests from the occupants were witnessed in the Phisalbanda-Riyasat Nagar stretch but it was sorted out with the help of police. It only took few hours for GHMC to clear off those structures. The area comes in the circle IV under GHMC.The officials of GHMC have said that the demolishing of encroachments was done few months back but it seems that the occupants have again built the extended structures. Apart for this, temporary structures including shops selling mobile phone accessories, leather goods and luggage too were demolished but the sellers were trying to build something up again.On the other side, these petty shopkeepers have expressed their grief saying that the GHMC had not sent them any notice before the destruction.The GHMC zonal commissioner had said that the encroachments and illegal structures are acting as agents of blockages and hindering the smooth flow of traffic. Hence it is necessary to clear them.
