PMC’s Mistake in FSI Declaration Affects 10 Lakh Punekars

printing-mistakePune: The corporators of Pune Peth and Gaothan areas had demanded a floor space index of 2.5 when the development plans and development control rules were being made for these areas. However a FSI of 2 was permitted instead of 2.5. While publishing the development plans there was a printing mistake and instead of 2 the FSI was printed as 1.5. Now a million Punekars residing in these areas have to suffer the consequences the mistake.The mistake was pointed out to the city engineer’s office by Congress Corporator and state unit secretary Sanjay Balgude. The city engineer’s office has admitted to the mistake and promised that it will be duly corrected. Around eight lakh citizens who reside in peth, gaothans, old wada areas in the city, and in the heart of the city areas will have to face a loss of crores of rupees due to the mistake. It had also been announced that for the old wadas the FSI would be 2.5.The department of development control (DC) is a concern of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). It has made it clear that of the 1987 development plans (DP) and the revised DP, which is open for suggestions and objections, the stricter of the two provisions would be used while judging the grant of permission for plans for constructions.The PMC also made it clear that these provisions will be applicable to all the proposals presented after March 28, 2013.
