Hyderabad: The registration and stamps department has decided to increase the rates of land and apartment registration; to be effective from April 1. Since only few days are left for that, a sudden boost in the count of registrations in the city is witnessed. The R and S department will be altering the rates by 20% to 50%, majorly in the expensive areas where land transactions are more. The news of the increase in rates was not declared via media in widespread; so there were no objections from people. As the department invited the objection, only less than 100 objections came due to lesser amount of publicity. The State Government most probably sanctions the hike in the rates of registration within the span of 2-3 days.Usually the registration done at any SRO in a day was never higher than 50 in count but on Monday the city observed it going higher than 3 times to normal count. As soon as buyers and sellers got to know about the new declaration, the crowd thronged at the every SRO in the city. The sudden increase in registrations caused the offices to work beyond their usual office hours to complete the process. The condition was observed in most parts of the city which include Uppal, Medchal, Serlingampally, L B Nagar, Shamshabad, Shamirpet, Ghatkesar, Marredpally and Banjara Hills.
