Bangalore: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) which is responsible for the orderly development of the city has determined to leave no stone unturned in collecting property taxes. BBMP has undertaken a special drive to assess the details submitted by the property owners especially properties with an area above 3,000 square feet. This drive was initiated during the large-scale miscalculation of the properties in the Self- Assessment Scheme (SAS). The review will be conducted to identify the proprietors who have not revealed actual facts of their property and are paying less tax.Siddaiah, commissioner of BBMP have assigned special teams to complete the evaluation process till March. The teams will then examine the properties once again. Based on the analysis, property tax will be revised for both residential as well as commercial properties that are above 3,000 square feet.Siddaih has also the instructed the teams to recover the differential amount from fallacious property holders. According to BBMP, the property owners who reveal the exact details and are ready to pay the differential amount will be exempted from the penalty.In accordance to the request of the people to the BBMP, properties which are not registered for property tax settlement and still are benefited by the civic amenities have to be registered under ‘B Khatha’ (separate register for such properties).
