Hyderabad: People registering their land with the registrations and stamps department have to get prepared to bear more charges. Chief Minister, N Kiran Kumar Reddy has put forward the suggestion to raise market land rate for the property registration.The chief minister has notified to cut down the registration charges including the fee for transfer of duty. He also added that for the first time, the validation of the prospective market value rates will be determined after taking suggestions from the general public.According to a press release, the Chief Minister has asked the Stamps and Registrations department to revise the proposal.According to the officials, the value of the land is based on the quantum of registration fee and stamp duty. On August 1, 2010 the last revision was done in city as well as rural areas. For the past two years the changes were not considered, however the land rates in some area has increased while in some areas the value has remained the same or has decreased.In August 2011, the charges of the services like obtaining the marriage certificate, encumbrance fee, stamp duty, property registration had been increased by the state government. The revision of the land values was kept on hold, since there was an expectation of hike in the above services.The chief minister stated that the decline in the registration costs would be the main reform. According to the spokesperson, the stamps and registration department have succeeded about 98.02% of the gross revenue target in 2011-12.
