New Delhi Stands 5th in World’s Most Costly Office Markets

officeNew Delhi has been pulled up in the ranking of world’s most costly office markets from 9th to 5th position as per the CBRE Global Research and Consulting semi-annual Prime Office Occupancy Costs survey.The Chairman and Managing Director of CBRE South Asia Pvt. Limited, Anshuman magazine reacted on the current increment of cost, “In prime CBD locations the supply of space is limited with almost no new supply expected in the near future. This is especially true for quality office space which has led to occupancy cost remaining high.”It is San Francisco that had the most powerful growth in the prime office occupancy costs with more than 36% increment, mainly due to technology sector. But the no.1 position is taken by Hong Kong-Central that tops the chart with overall occupancy cost of US$246.30 per sq ft per year. At 2nd it’s London’s West End, which had total occupancy costs of US$219.81, followed by Tokyo (Marunouchi-the commercial district), Beijing’s CBD and New Delhi’s CBD.There is a hike of 2.1% in occupancy costs worldwide.
