Madurai: The Madurai City Corporation has sketched out plans to boost infrastructure in and around the rural areas of the city. The term infrastructure development has caught the attention of the Corporation officials who have streamlined their planning to give greater focus to overall growth. It is in these lines that the Corporation has decided to launch several new projects which aim to strengthen the infrastructure of the city.The projects target the extended areas of the city which have recently come under the Corporation’s jurisdiction. To ensure setting up of quality infrastructure in these areas, the Corporation has set aside funds for its faster implementation. Almost 1 crore has been allotted for this initiative.The task which is high on priority is to assure adequate and quality water supply within the city. Moreover construction of newer highways and roadways has been proposed by the Corporation. Works on Water and Drainage management have already begun carrying a fund allocation of Rs. 1 crore. Ensuring regular water supply to these extended areas is the prime focus of the Madurai Corporation.Apart from this, infrastructure projects in the urban areas have been delineated by the Madurai Corporation at mammoth cost of Rs. 3 crore.
