Bangalore: Bangalore is experiencing a tenfold rise in realty activities. A recent study revealed that the aspiring home buyers, here, are looking for residential properties adjoining the lakes. The reason behind this is the serenity that is offered by the residential houses that have a lakeside view. The apartments facing the lakes have higher property rates as well. Nature enthusiasts are even keener on acquiring a lake side property. Bangalore, popularly known as the city of gardens, is also famous for its lakes. However, due to the expansion of the city, many lakes of the city have almost disappeared from the city’s landscape. Fortunately, with time, the residents have turned their attention towards lake conservation which has contributed to a better quality of lifestyle.Efforts have been taken by the residents and other organizations to preserve these lakes. The Puttenahalli Neighbourhood Lake Improvement Trust has planted around 300 trees near the residential units that are in close proximity to the lakes. This Trust also works to stop sewage water from entering the lake water. Many volunteer groups have been formed in order to protect the lakes in Bangalore. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has also taken the responsibility of fencing the Arakere Lake. The BDA Association has a number of volunteers who work for conservation and maintenance of the lakes. The residents living in the adjoining areas are contributing to this conservation programme.
