Mumbai: Tax payers are expected to receive their final tax statements by September 2012. The bill distribution will begin in the month of August. Citizens will be sent a special notice specifying the property type, floor number and other important details for which the property tax is due. The property tax will be calculated based on the capital value system of evaluation. Properties which have come after April 2010 will be taxed from this particular date. This means tax arrears for the past two years will be charged to these property owners. A grace period of 3 months will be given to the property owners who have an accumulated tax due of two years. Meanwhile, to encourage tax payers to settle their dues on time, have announced a 2-4% tax rebate on the total payable amount.
