Chennai: Paying property tax has never been this easy! Now you can walk into the bank branch or ATM counters to settle your property dues. This new system has been introduced to cut short the long waiting times at some of the dedicated zonal offices. From ICICI, Canara and HDFC bank to IDBI bank, almost all banks will come under this scheme. Tax payers have to just provide their property tax number at any of the bank branches which will disclose the property location and the amount due.You can also make use of internet banking in order to pay the property tax through banks. This system will help save time for tax payers who otherwise have to queue up in front of the Zonal offices. A special interactive system will be set up to pay property taxes at ATM’s. Upon completion a receipt of acknowledgment will be given to the tax payers for reference. Officials of the Chennai Corporation have been facing difficulties for the past few months due to the prolonging collection of tax dues.
