Pune: A 3-day deadline has been set by the Pune Municipal Corporation for distributing the property tax bills to the recipients. This order was issued to ensure the timely distribution of bills. Reports of delay in receiving the property bills surfaced from across the city. The PMC also made it clear that in case the tax payers default from paying the taxes then they should be penalized since the responsibility of timely distribution is upto the Corporation officials.Untimely distribution may also cause bill payers to lose out on the discounts given to the early birds. A discount of 10% is applicable to citizens who pay taxes before May 31st with a tax amount of Rs. 25,000. For a bill amount of Rs.25, 001 or more, a discount of 5% will be levied. Moreover for delayed dispatching of bills citizens will not be held responsible for defaulting.In case tax payers wish to know the tax amount due then an alternate handy system has been introduced.
