Pune is famous for its rich culture and historical monuments. The historic monuments make you remember some great souls and their contributions to the uplift of social development. If we see the scenario today we find that the city is expanding at a very fast pace but some areas still having old and historic structures to tell the history with pride. In the interiors of city we find old streets that are called Peths in Marathi language and old buildings are called Wadas. Let me take you one of such Wadas that is not any ordinary Wada but a historically significant Wada in a well maintained state. This Wada is known as Mahatma Phule Wada.It has got its name after the great personality Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. This place was used to be the residence of Jyotiba Phule who lived here with his wife Devi Savitri Bai Phule for some time. This Wada was built in the year 1852 in the Ganj Peth (road) near Pune Railway station. It is a little away from the station and can be reached easily from there. The Wada consists of a house, a courtyard, a well for drinking water, open space, green trees, backyard, etc. the Wada represents the simple architecture and the lifestyle of Pune people in the nineteenth century. There is a statue of Jyotiba Phule in the open space of courtyard of the Wada. In the open space at the Wada Jyotiba Phule used to take meetings of Satyashodhak Samaj. He tried to change the society regulations and unnecessary restrictions that were imposed on the lower cast. His contribution in the liberation of Dalits of Maharashtra is remarkable. The well in the Wada is of historic importance too because the legend who is also known as great reformer in the Indian history, allowed Dalits (backward class people) to fetch water for drinking from this well. He had a great heart and wanted to eliminate the class difference in the society. Opening the well for the Dalit people who were restricted to take water from public water storage is an example of his greatness. Traditionally built well is still in good shape and attracts a lot of visitors to indulge in the history. Mahatma Phule was very keen on his aim of educating the girl child and women empowerment. Throughout his life he tried to achieve his aim by his efforts. He even opened a school especially for girls and his wife Savitri Bai Phule became the first lady teacher. It was a remarkable achievement during that period in the Indian history.Currently the Wada is converted in a museum that has displayed the photos of the legend along with his wife and his great career as a social reformer. There are trees in the open space of courtyard where visitors can relax under the shade. In the courtyard you can find beautiful structure with flower beds, well trimmed grass and lamp sheds. There is no entrance fee for visitors. It is a must visit place while exploring Pune so that you can draw some inspiration from this legend and can remember the great contribution of Mahatma Phule in making of the modern society.Ruchi Mahajanзайм на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
