There are various places in and around Pune that are worth visiting. Some are popular for their natural beauty, some places for the adventure sports; some destinations for serene beaches while some for their religious significance. Today I am talking about one such place that is totally dedicated to an important person who was a saint as well as a social reformer. This place is currently known as Sajjangad. As the name suggests it is a kind of fort on a small hill. In Hindi the meaning of Sajjangad is Fort of Good People as Sajjan means good people. It is also called Devanagari but in Marathi it is called Sajjangad only. This fort is situated near Satara city in the state of Maharashtra. This place is solely connected to the saint of seventeenth century and guru Sant Ramdas. He was born in the year 1606. He lived in this fort and he died here only. This place has become a pilgrimage for the followers of Sant Ramdas whose teachings are read by many people here and his work of social reforms are remembered and followed. It is a kind of holy place and you feel moved when you visit. If we see the history of the place we come to know that this fort was actually built somewhere between 1347 and 1527 by Bahamani Emperors. Then after 1527 it was capture by the Adilshah Ruler and it was under their reign till 1686. Mughal King attacked Adilshah and conquered him and the Fort of Sajjangad. At this time Sajjangad was known as Parali but during Maharaj Shivaji’s regime it was renamed as Sajjangad. It was Shivaji Maharaj who requested Sant Ramdas who was the spiritual guru of Shivaji Maharaj to make this fort his permanent residence. One can see the fort from far distance. It is beautiful and surrounded by open grounds and hills. The fort which is turned into a divine place has a Samadhi (tomb) which is the final resting place of Guru Ramdas Swami. The Fort and the Samadhi are now being maintained by a sansthan (Trust) called Ramdas Swami Sansthan. It is a trust working since the time of Ramdas swami. Swami Ramdas has written a manuscript which is called Dasbodh. It is read by people daily here. Apart from this people offer daily morning prayers, do abhishek and puja and sing bhajans. The place is closed from sunset till sunrise and the entry of anyone is restricted during these hours. One can visit only during the day after sunrise but before sunset. It is a nice experience to visit Sajjangad fort due to its historical and spiritual significance. The hill on which it is located is not very high and can be reached by vehicle till close to top. After that you are only hundred steps away from the main gate of fort Sajjangad. The distance from Pune to Sajjangad Fort is approximately 123 kilometers. There are state transport buses available from Swargate to reach there. You can find restaurants here not very classy but good to satisfy hunger.Ruchi Mahajanзайм на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
