Pune: The rapidly expanding Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune is witnessing launch of many new residential and commercial projects in areas like Moshi, Ravet, Pimple Nilakh, Wakad and Chikhli. As Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation is granting building permissions, gradually more, the civic body in 2013-14 has managed to earn Rs. 335 crore, which is recorded as highest revenue till date.According to the building permission department chief, more permissions will be granted for more projects in rural localities like Moshi, Kiwale, Ravet, Chikhli, Pimpale, Gurav and other such areas. As per the corporation’s data, even though the permission granted for the areas, Wakad and Pimpale Nilakh have come down or remained steady, the count continues to be high.During 2013-14, the civic body granted permissions for around 1,166 buildings while in the previous fiscal year, the civic body approved 907 projects, out of which most of them were in Pimple Saudagar, Sangvi, Wakad and other proximity locations.PCMC had set a target to generate Rs. 327 crore in the year 2013-14 but ended up with increased revenue of Rs.335 crore. As per a spokesperson, the building permission has to be granted by the department within two months of the application, if the applicant has completed all the necessary procedures. Previously, it was a time-consuming procedure as the officials had to carry out physical verification of the property ownership documents but now the online process have helped to save a lot of time.Apart from this, the former municipal commissioner has handed over all the powers to lower authority, hence even the deputy engineer can grant permissions for the plots that measure over 20 gunthas.
