PCMC: Brass Bands Played Outside Defaulters Home to Collect Tax Dues

PCMCPune: To recover the property tax dues from the defaulters, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is playing brass bands outside their homes. They are finding it humiliating but the municipal corporation had no option as the default property owners are not making any move to pay their dues. The corporation finds this drive really rewarding as they have managed to recover Rs. 11.48 crore from around 2,500 property owners, since January 27.After the transfer of the Municipal commissioner, last month, the general body immediately requested the administration to stop this drive as the act seemed very humiliating and ruthless. According to the corporators, the property owners were not able to pay the property tax on time due to the industrial recession. Instead of playing the bands, the corporation can seize the properties to incur the tax dues. The mayor asked the PCMC to stop band playing act outside the residences of defaulters but still the tax department continued this drive. As per the assistant commissioner of PCMC and property tax department chief, the department till March 31st will continue this practice. The civic body has appointed 10 brass bands groups. The property owners should make an effort to pay off the dues completely or at least clear the unpaid tax amount partially and pay it off in installment basis.Last year in April, the yearly target of the property tax department was Rs. 250 crore which later was revised to Rs. 350 crore. It is important that the department achieves the target or else the Local Body Tax can fall short by Rs. 330 crore.займ на карту без отказов круглосуточновзять кредит онлайн
