Even Kolkata will now be counted in the list of the cities that boast eco-friendly residential apartments as two premium green residential projects has been launched in this metro city. There are around 250 green housing projects present in this country which includes some elite projects in NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, now Kolkata’s Primarc and MCK group’s, Astitva and Platinum by Godrej Properties will also join the green league.These two projects of Kolkata have been certified with gold rating by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) which is the highest rating after platinum. It is a huge honor for these two projects. Even though, many green buildings before these projects were launched in Kolkata but none of them were tagged by this rating as the builders used to feel reluctant to apply for the green certification because of additional expenses and compliance with standards was not easy.The director of Primarc group, after getting the gold certification from IGBC said that Astitva is their first green project and it will set a new benchmark in Kolkata by offering responsive comfort living which would be an oxymoron. The project will focus on water efficiency and the waste water will be used for gardening and building maintenance. The project also boast organic waste converter.On the other hand, Godrej Properties have already launched several projects that have been certified by Platinum, gold and silver ratings. The current project by the real estate giant in Kolkata, Platinum meets all the green norms.
