Delhi: North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has revealed that around 1000 housing and commercial properties in North Delhi have still not paid their property taxes which are of total Rs. 120 crore. The North Corporation declared that strict measures would be taken against the defaulters and their name would be made public if they do not take this move seriously.The high-powered property tax committee chairman of North Delhi Municipal Corporation recently said that from past several years, property tax worth Rs. 120 crore is pending from 1,094 residential and commercial properties of this locality. The chairman further added that this time it is a notice to the defaulters, if they do not pay the tax amount on time then as per the provisions under the DMC Act, stringent action would be taken against them.According to the chairman, the corporation would punish the defaulters by publishing their names in newspaper or placing banners or flex of their names in their residing area or they could go worse by playing loud drums outside residences, joined with their accounts and their property auction.The corporation much earlier had presented general pardon policies that included surrendering of penalty and notice of facilitation of the tax payers. In November 2013, the last scheme was put forward by the corporation through which majority of the tax payers were profited by the scheme benefits.
