If you want your building plans to get approved in a systematic way without any illegal process then you may have to soon arrive at Corporation of Chennai’s regional offices – north, south and central branch.With an intention to make the building plan approval process more transparent, the civic body has decided to follow the process in the regional offices. Dedicated offices for town planning have been set up in these regional offices. This branch will also operate as a division for corporation’s enforcement which would look after the building plan breaches.According to the corporate officials, the new branch will start operating soon in the regional offices and will take action against more than 10,000 building plans which is received by the civic body each year.Due to the increasing complains regarding demand for bribes, delay in approval process and other illegalities, the civic body thought of coming up with a centralized system to get rid of such issues. The official further said that the wing will be having two divisions where one division would handle the approval process and the other would look after enforcement.The town planning team will be conducting at least 3 surveys of each building, before sanctioning the plan. The license reviewers will be reporting about the variations and violations in the approved building plans. Builders can also apply for this process, online.Most of the applicants said that they have no idea about how the new process system would work. Without any former notice, the zonal offices have already stopped getting the applications. The residents have requested the corporation to make sure that the regional offices are staffed sufficiently.
