As the general elections are just on the way, most of the cities are focusing to legalize the illegal constructions. Ludhiana is one of the cities which is all set to follow the plan. The Municipal Corporation of Ludhiana has planned to regularize all the illegal buildings falling under their zone. The corporation has sent a draft to the state government for the approval of the plan.According to the Municipal Commissioner political demands due to the upcoming elections and opposition of the citizens are the main factors, why the authorities have decided to take up such kind of initiative. According to the sources, the authorities are expected to legalize around 1.5 lakhs unauthorized buildings by paying certain amount which would be confirmed later.These illegal constructions are being bifurcated into three categories residential, commercial and industrial.As per the regularization scheme, the encroachers will have to make payment for one-time to the LMC to get the structures legalized. On the other hand, there will be no provision for relaxation for the illegal buildings which are developed on government land or the commercial zones which utilize space of 500 sq yard without parking space.The authorities will be waiting for the permissions after the general elections.
