Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) would launch one of the biggest housing schemes designed for Lower Income Group (LIG). Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has created a latest development plan Ahmedabad. Standing committee will allocate construction works to various developers to aid the LIG housing schemes.About 1888 houses will be developed in Vatva area of Ahmedabad under the JNNURM scheme of the government regarding funds have already been allocated. On the other hand chief Minister’s housing scheme promises a large package of 4937 LIG houses in the coming years in various parts of the city. The plan involves a mix of housing, shops, kindergarten schools and small dispensary which will be added features of such LIG housing schemes.LIG housing schemes have been planned in 29 locations across Ahmedabad such as Nikol, Chandkheda, Chandlodia, Vejalpur, Kali, Vadaj, Shahibag, Thaltej and Kankaria etc. AMC has already reserved land for various housing schemes which have been approved as TP shcmes. AMC has decided to allot 20 per cent land of the closed mills for affordable housing schemes to create more availability of housing units.Apart from all these schemes, more than 5000 EWS housing schemes will come up in various locations of the city. AMC will also construct 456 shops and 12 offices for cross subsidy purpose which will be auctioned in the future.People can apply for LIG housing units under the criteria defined by the AMC, only people having family’s annual income between Rs 1 lakh to 2.50 lakh.
