PMC Collects Rs 670 Crore as Property Tax

pune-property-taxPune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has recorded property tax calculating to about Rs 670 crore, calculated revenue of the civic authority is from the beginning of the current fiscal to the current date. The fiscal year started in April 2013 and after 10 months period the civic body has managed to collect about Rs 670 crore through property tax in the city.The standing committee has held a meeting which reviewed the property tax income of the civic body for the current fiscal year. Review of property tax income was announced during the meeting by chairman of the civic standing committee, Vishal Tambe. The civic authority had intended a target of Rs 740 crore by the end of this fiscal year, but with Rs 670 crore already in pocket civic body only needs to assess Rs 70 crore to meet its target.Civic authority has recently carried out a special drive to find out the properties which do not come in the property tax domain. Under the survey, civic administration found out about 20000 such properties.For PMC, property tax is one of the main revenue sources which brings significant amount to carry out various social and physical infrastructural work in the city.
