Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has decided to appoint 10 bands to play music outside the properties which have defaulted of property tax payments in the Pune municipal Corporation’s Jurisdiction. The appointed bands will serve for the municipal corporation by playing music outside the houses of property tax defaulters in the city.Property tax department is also conducting a survey of all the properties which will shortlist all the property tax defaulters which are partly assesses or fully assessed by the corporation. The survey will also look for the houses whose usage has changed and their property tax assessment will also be changed according to their usage of property.Until now the department witnessed about 38,000 properties whose assessment is not done while other 32,000 properties are also found who sought extension for assessment but they are yet to be assessed after the completion of their extension period. The department stated that all these properties will be assessed according to the current rates to increase the annual property tax income of the civic administration.About 3.65 lakh properties are observed which are registered with the property tax department of the municipal corporation across the city which is expected to rise to about 4 lakh properties which will be cleared out once the survey commenced by civic body will be finished.PCMC Civic administration is also considering assessment of water tax along with the property tax which will also be considered while doing the survey of the properties situated across the city.
