Gujarat Government to Carry Out Survey for Government Owned Land Records

gujaratSurat: The state government of Gujarat has instructed all collectors, district development officers (DDO), Settlement Commissioner and the director of land records to carry out fresh field survey to check all the land records across the state. The survey will be carried out to check all the government land in all districts across the state. The state government has no certain records of all the lands which are owned by the government and to know the exact land value under its limits. The government has ordered a fresh survey to recognize  such land details across the state.A government official said that there is no information available on government lands under various types and hence it is not possible for government to have an exact idea of the land owned by the government. The survey will enable the government to have an idea of the land distribution under various types and the overall land ownership across the state in various districts.The social-economic review 2012-2013 stated that in 1980-1981, total land owned by the government was about 8,48,300 hectares while in 2007-1008 it was 8,51,400 hectares. The result suggested that there has not been significant change in the total land owned by the government in about 25 years. Although no current values were available on the total land owned by government, the survey will bring the actual figures out in the public.The state government has not updated the data on a regular basis which resulted in no firm availability of land records owned by the state government.
