Pune: In a recent survey conducted for the tracts of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad revealed that almost 32, 000 properties are left unassessed by the Municipal Corporation. Of these there are approximately 10, 000 residential and commercial properties in the city of Pune which needs to be assessed. Rest of the 12, 000 properties fall under the Pimpri Chinchwad jurisdiction. The properties which require assessment will generate an income of Rs. 10 crore for the Corporation. Apart from the 10, 000 properties and addition of 5, 000 properties is expected to join the league. The properties to be assessed are basically on the outskirts of the city. The survey of the properties will go on till the end of December.The PCMC is on the lookout for properties which have undergone modifications or constructional changes over the past 3 months. As per records only 3.25 lakh properties have been registered with the property tax department. However there are almost 5 lakh properties within the Pune jurisdiction. The Municipal Corporation is keeping a check on these properties-to-be-assessed to maintain precise records for tax recovery.A 355 member team will be working on the property tax assessment. Citizens are required to fill in enumeration forms with details like the property type, property dimension, owner’s name and other relevant information.Property tax in Pune has gone through major revisions and the Corporation is doing its best to keep the track records updated.
