Bangalore Requires Rs. 80,000 Crore to Become Sustainable

bangalore-According to the state urban development secretary, the IT hub of India, Bangalore will require a heavy amount of at least Rs. 80,000 crore to become sustainable in around next five years. The fund is needed for road development, improvement of infrastructure, drainage facilities and for numerous other activities which would perk up the city.On the basis of a seminar on Cities of the future: Smart and Sustainable, every city will be improving by 20% and Bangalore is also part of the upgradation drive. The government has to invest around Rs. 80,000 crore to maintain the rapid growth of the city and to introduce sustainable features like waste, environment, water and transport management solutions. But the sources revealed that the State government is only able to spend Rs. 20,000 crore as their yearly state budget is Rs. 1 lakh crore and it is not easy for any government to invest such a huge amount by neglecting other regions and goals.The Urban State Development secretary further added that there has been a colossal private investment in the city from past 15 years but the government is unable to match this due to numerous limitations in policy making.The chairman of Centre for Sustainable Development said that Bangalore will benefit a lot with the ready solutions to sustainability through Smart City Council. This committee is an industry association to upgrade the smart city development and innovation. The chairman also said that around 600 million public will relocate to urban areas and about 68 cities in India will have 1 million population by 2031. This will in turn increase the demand for urban services and the environment stress will keep on escalating.
