Very soon affordable housing projects are expected to commence on a land parcel of 100 acres around New Delhi. The land is present, about 10 to 11 kms from Connaught Place. Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is considering launching 14 to15 group housing projects on this land parcel which is located near Wazirabad Entry Gate in Delhi. The plan to develop these projects is still under consideration.According to the Vice Chairman of GDA, they have some plots at Madhuban Bapudham Scheme. The group housing project is present near Govindpuram. This is the only project by GDA which has been at present, plotted development at the offer. The Vice Chairman was answering the questions raised by the users of Open House which is an online platform where people can ask queries regarding particular subject. On the query regarding price and size of these plots, the vice chairman replied that the plots are around 400 sq ft and are priced Rs. 13,600 per sq mtr. He further added that the project is good for investment and within five years, the plot prices have just doubled.There are also residential units available for Low Income Group (LIG) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS). The size of the flats for these categories starts from 35 sq mtr, priced around Rs 5.10 lakh and units of 25 sq mtr which cost about Rs. 2.40 lakh. The authority is also thinking to come up with affordable housing projects at various areas of Indirapuram and Kaushambi.The GDA is planning to develop numerous projects which are related to roads, drainage and water supply.
