Ahmedabad: The civic body of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to introduce registration process for real estate developers in city. The AMC already has a system to register architects, engineers and structural designers which make it mandatory for these people to register with the civic administration. The civic body is now demanding that real estate developers should also register with AMC for better transparency in the real estate.The issue was raised under the new agenda of AMC’s standing committee for approval, which stated that the civic administration wants developers to register with civic body after paying fee. Decision of registration of developers was taken to bring accountability and transparency in the real estate profession.Recently Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) proposed that the policy of registering developers must be made mandatory. The policy was proposed in its latest development control regulations stated by the AUDA.The AMC has decided to construct thousands of affordable homes for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low Income Group (LIG) in the Ahmedabad. Developers which are willing to take these projects on a PPP basis must be registered with civic body of AMC.Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is planning to construct many affordable housing units dedicated to the EWS and LIG segments of Ahmedabad.
