Nashik: The Maharashtra government has approved the reservation of 58.48 acres of residential are in Tapovan, Panchvati for the proposed Sadhugram development for the coming Kumbh Mela. The development of Sadhugram is proposed to accommodate the visiting Sadhus for the scheduled 2015 Kumbh Mela in Nashik.Nashik civic body has claimed that it is expecting that the number of visiting sadhus during Kumbh Mela 2015 will be greater than 3 lakh. For the accommodation, the state government has nitified 323 acres of land for the Sadhugram at Tapovan. The total stated land of 323 will be acquired, but at current about 54 acres of land have been acquired by the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC). Remaining 269 acres of land will be acquired by the state government, out of which 163 acres of land falls in NO-Development Zone (NDZ) and about 658 acres of land will come from the residential zone.The NMC had sent a proposal stating the proposed changes in the land reservations for the residential zone. THE current reservation from the residential zone is calculated as 58.43 acres which includes 46.50 acres from survey no. 289 and 290 at Tapovan. The rest land of 11.93 acres will be acquired from survey no 288.The state government has issued a notification stating the reservation of 58.43 acres of residential zone for Sadhugram.The state government has not yet decided whether to acquire land on the temporary basis or on the permanent basis for the remaining 269 acres of land.
