MCG Gets a Nod for Property Tax Collection

gurgaon-propertyGurgaon: A month long stifle finally came to an end with State Government giving a nod to the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon to resume property tax collection. The tax collection process came to an abrupt standstill owing to the allegations made by the property owners from across the city. The property tax bills sent to numerous owners were found to have errors in them.The plot owners therefore refrained from paying the property tax. This scenario was brought into the notice of the State Government which came out with a feasible solution for this muddle.For plots measuring 300 sq. yard or more, the owners were required to shell out Rs.1 per sq. yard. However plots measuring between Rs. 301 sq. yard and 2 acre will be charged Rs. 4-10 per sq. yard. Commercial properties in Gurgaon occupying a maximum of 1000 sq. yard will be charged around Rs.12-15 sq. yard. However parking spaces shall not be liable for these charges.Over the last 1 year almost Rs. 270 crore had been recovered as property taxes.
