Vadodara: Vadoadara Municipal Corporation (VMC) will start two major initiatives focusing on urban poor housing schemes along with focus on a slum free city scheme. The civic body has taken up these proposals which will facilitate developments under Rajiv Awas Yojana and Mukhyamanti Gruh Yojana. These schemes are carried out by the center’s ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (MHUPA) program.The VMC will appoint a consultant for the Mukhyamantri Gruh Yojana (MGY) which will carry out the complete process of the scheme in Vadodara. The process will be carried out by the consultant and will include preparation of detailed project report and allocation of and possession of the housing units as per the rules. The proposal to appoint a consultant has already been prepared by VMC.The scheme of Rajiv Awas Yojana is taken under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM). Under RAY, VMC has proposed a pilot project to build 498 accommodations which will be used as a temporary housing for persons who have been granted a permanent housing under the schemes. The pilot project is under the observation of the VMC and CEPTUniversity experts are working on the development plan of the project.According to the proposal submitted by the civic body of the VMC suggest that administration will need to have a technical cell to look after the project. The implementation will be supervised by the appointed technical cell for the project.
